Volume 12 | June 18, 2020

It's been a month of processing and experiencing intense emotional heaviness. There have been days of tears, anger, confusion and despair. I've given myself permission to acknowledge it and experience it. I'm also praying more often, offering my love and light, focusing on the healing that is so desperately needed, calling on justice and reform and an end to the violence and hatred.

If you've been with me for a while then you know I use #useyourvoice (even built a mobile app for it) and #endthesilence often. Both are declarations I make consistently when referring to the moment I decided to speak out about revenge porn and cyber harassment effectively spawning a social justice project and documentary called 50 Shades of Silence.

I tell you this -  because we are all at a pivotal time where many are being led to band our voices together and speak out about racism, police brutality, diversity and inclusion, white privilege, judicial reform and the death of George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Philando Castile, Breonna Taylor and so many others.

How will you use your voice during this time? How will you end the silence?

I’m thinking and praying for you at this time.

P.S. If now feels like the time for you to stand up, end the silence and use your voice and you’re looking for support in doing that please, book into my calendar here.

I love how so many people are coming together to engage in much needed dialogue and conversations around why and how Black Lives Matter. I am grateful for the community of women I serve and others that I'm a part of that are openly collaborating to educate and inform.

I will continue to be a guiding example of supporting those in dire need through volunteering, donating, having open and honest conversations, listening and supporting.

I'm holding onto faith that this time, those who need to pay attention.. Are.

If you’re feeling the need to contribute at this time but don’t quite know what to do, why not consider donating? Here are a few organizations to give to:

Put an end to police violence by supporting policy campaigns:

End police violence against women with the #SayHerName Campaign:

Donate to fuel the Black Lives Matter campaigns for justice:

If you are being led by God to position yourself for opportunities of influence then I invite you to read this book; The Esther Anointing by Michelle McClain-Walters.

Or maybe it's time for you to understand race in America dating all the way back to 1607. If so then I invite you to read Race, Law and American Society by Gloria J. Brown Marshall.

When you know better, do better.

For so many people this has been a time that has opened our eyes to the struggles that are happening to our black brothers and sisters. And if you’re just awakening to the injustices and effects of systemic racism, then it can feel incredibly shameful if you thought you should know earlier. But I want to remind you that you don’t know, what you don’t know!

Maya Angelou once said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” Each of us is being called in this time to do better, because it is a time collectively that we are coming to know and understand more about ourselves, our society, our government and people we uphold in positions of leadership.

I, for one, will be doing all I can to give more, speak up more, educate myself more, and become fully the person that I’m destined to be in this moment.

What about you?

I love these words and images from 2x Emmy Award Winning Photographer  Emmai Alaquiva

“THE LIONESS: With abundant indebtedness, I have been outdone by capturing the spirit of the dynamic black women leading communities all over the city this week. Let us take the time to show our love and gratitude for all that black women do for our world”. #BlackGirlMagic  #PittsburghProtest

Now more than ever we need to practice calm.

I’m extending an invitation for you to join me live for a weekend of luxury, learning and champagne toasts! Register for the retreat here.
